Understanding The SurgeryInstead of providing physical health benefits, Liposuction is more commonly used to improve a persons physical appearance and confidence. It is not seen as an effective treatment for obesity but rather should be done on targeted areas of the body. Common areas that we see treated with Liposuction in London Ontario are the buttocks, back, abdomen, hips, inner knees, flanks, thighs, upper arms, chest, neckline and the area under the chin. Many advancements have been made using modern technology making the procedure much more efficient now than ever before. This means that the desired results can be achieved with less discomfort, risk, blood loss, and shorter recovery periods. If preferred, the fat removed can also transferred to another part of the body, to enhance a certain area such as the buttocks.
What To Expect After The Surgery
Anesthetic- You will usually have to stay the night at the hospital in London Ontario if you undergo a general anesthetic, however if you choose a local anesthetic which is very common for Liposuction, leaving the hospital on the same day is highly possible.
Antibiotics- Following the liposuction procedure, the doctor may give you some antibiotics.
Painkillers- In order to reduce the inflammation/pain, the doctor will usually prescribe some painkillers.
Support bandages- The targeted area of the operation will be fitted with bandages that help reduce inflammation and bruising. During the few weeks that they are worn, be sure to keep the area clean. The doctor will advise you on how to do this.
Stitches- You will be scheduled in for a future appointment at the office in London Ontario to remove the stitches when the time is appropriate.
Bruising- There may be bruising in the area the work was performed. The size of the area is usually the main factor on how much bruising will occur.
